Facial Recognition, Retail Safety and the Potential for Public – Private cooperation using innovative technologies to Reduce Crime
This is the third post in series on Blue Line Technology’s Project Blue Light. Project Blue Light is an initiative to install facial recognition in night time gas and convenience stores. The data highlighted in this series was collected over the past two years from 6 stores. The stores are located in the states of Washington, Maryland and Missouri. Highlights are robberies have been reduced to zero, calls for police service to the stores have been reduced by 90 – plus per cent and both customer and employee satisfaction have increased.
Project Blue Light Changing the Picture of Store Crime
A reaction to increased crime events impacting retail stores is that many cities and county administrators are now compiling problem property lists. Problem properties have an inordinate number of robberies and calls for police service.
